Vallejo, CA [October 24, 2025]— The Filipino Community of Solano County, Inc. (FCSCI), in co-sponsorship with the California Department of Rehabilitation (DOR), proudly hosted a special Career and Health Fair on Friday, October 24, 2025, at the Filipino Community Center, 611 Amador Street, Vallejo, CA, in recognition of the 80th annual National Disability Employment and Awareness Month (NDEAM).
The free community event connected local residents with employment opportunities, vocational programs, and health resources, with a particular focus on supporting individuals with disabilities in achieving their career and wellness goals.
What the Event Offered
Attendees found a variety of services and resources under one roof. Local employers and organizations were present to discuss job openings, internships, and career development programs, while healthcare providers offered free screenings and wellness consultations.
The California Department of Rehabilitation featured on-site representatives who provided information about vocational training, job placement assistance, and workplace accommodation services. In addition, educational workshops were held on topics such as resume building, interview skills, disability rights, and workplace inclusion strategies.
“This fair represents our commitment to ensuring that all community members, regardless of ability, have access to meaningful employment opportunities and quality healthcare resources,” said a spokesperson from the Filipino Community of Solano County, Inc.
Celebrating a Milestone Anniversary
October 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of National Disability Employment and Awareness Month, a federal initiative that celebrates the contributions of workers with disabilities while raising awareness about the challenges and opportunities surrounding inclusive employment.
This year’s theme emphasizes the importance of creating workplaces where everyone can contribute and thrive, aligning perfectly with the mission and spirit of the Career and Health Fair.

FCSCI, a nonprofit dedicated to serving the Filipino-American and broader Solano County community through cultural preservation, social services, and civic engagement, brings deep community connections and outreach capacity to the partnership.
The California Department of Rehabilitation contributes its expertise in helping people with disabilities achieve employment and independent living goals through vocational counseling, job training programs, and assistive technology resources across the state.
FCSCI also extended its gratitude to additional agencies and partners that contributed to the event’s success, including:
- Solano County Health & Social Services – Public Health Division
- Kaiser Permanente, represented by Dr. Scarlet McClure, MD
- The Philippine Nurses Association (PNA)
- And numerous other community organizations committed to advancing wellness, equity, and inclusion.
Accessibility and Inclusion
Organizers ensured the fair was fully accessible, with accommodations available upon request. The event was free and open to all community members, reflecting the inclusive mission of National Disability Employment and Awareness Month.
Beyond immediate job placement and health services, the fair served as a networking hub where attendees connected with advocacy groups, support services, and local leaders working to advance disability rights and inclusion.
Looking Forward
As the disability employment movement enters its ninth decade, events like this Career and Health Fair highlight the ongoing effort to remove barriers and promote inclusive community engagement.
By bringing together employers, healthcare providers, and support services in one accessible location, FCSCI and the California Department of Rehabilitation reaffirm their shared commitment to ensuring that all Solano County residents have equal access to opportunity, health, and empowerment.
