FCSCI Elects New Leadership and Unveils Vision for Future

Vallejo, CAMarch 16, 2024 – Amidst a gathering of esteemed guests, dignitaries from Vallejo and Solano County, and members of the community, the Filipino Community of Solano County, Inc. (FCSCI) celebrated a historic moment as it welcomed its new President, Annie Frias-Ramos. The event, graced by Mayor Robert McConnell and numerous council members and officials of Solano County, marked a significant milestone in the organization’s 79-year journey.

In her inaugural address, President Frias-Ramos expressed profound gratitude for the trust bestowed upon her and committed to upholding the core values of strength, resilience, and unity that define FCSCI. She outlined a bold vision for the future, emphasizing the revitalization of essential projects in response to the challenges posed by the ongoing pandemic.

Central to President Frias-Ramos’s agenda is the continuation and expansion of FCSCI’s scholarship program for deserving Filipino-American high school students, despite financial constraints. Additionally, she aims to foster opportunities for seniors to reconnect and engage within the community, nurturing a sense of belonging that has been affected by the pandemic.

Recognizing the invaluable contributions of past leaders and dedicated members, President Frias-Ramos extended appreciation to immediate past President Cris Villanueva and his wife Candy, along with other individuals who played pivotal roles in organizing the event.

Looking ahead, President Frias-Ramos emphasized the preservation of Filipino heritage and culture, with a special focus on engaging the youth as custodians of this rich legacy. FCSCI will oversee the Philippine Cultural Committee’s celebration of Vallejo Pista Sa Nayon on June 1, 2024, at the Mare Island Coal Sheds, commemorating Philippine Independence Day.
